John’s COVID Collection
Submitted by: Janice Ward; Cookie art created by: John Ward
John, a self-taught cookie artist, has been using his creativity and passion for cookie decorating to raise money in support of hospice patients and their loved ones. In honor of the support they received during the two years and four months that Janice’s mom was on hospice, John and Janice donate 100% of their proceeds to the Casa de la Luz Foundation.
John recently created cookie art inspired by the pandemic and was kind enough to answer a few questions and share them with our project.
Why were you inspired to make mask themed cookies?
“Because of the focus now on the pandemic, I thought it to be pertinent of the real times we are going through right now and everyone can connect.”
Tell us about your selection for the patterns on your mask theme cookies?
“I needed to find designs that would fit on the size of cookie that I chose, as well as able to paint/color and show up well, all with the theme of association with what I call, my “COVID COLLECTION”.
What message do you hope to share by creating the mask theme cookies?
“WEAR YOUR MASK!”

These cookies are just amazing. Each one is a work of art that takes skill and “heart.” I love seeing them… Mini showcases for John’s creativity.
